What the role is

The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) plays a pivotal role in upholding the rule of law in Singapore and in strengthening the efficiency and integrity of Singapore's legal system. As the Public Prosecutor, the Attorney-General (AG) is constitutionally vested with the power to institute, conduct or discontinue proceedings for any criminal offence. The AG is also responsible for drafting Singapore’s laws, and is the Government’s chief legal advisor both domestically and in the international arena.

What you will be working on

Responsibilities: This role in AGC’s Strategic Communications Department (SCD) offers a range of opportunities to engage in public communications work. You will help to profile AGC through areas such as media relations and digital communications, building positive relationships with stakeholders from both local and foreign media agencies, as well as engagement with members of public. As SCD is also responsible for the international relations (IR) function in AGC, you will have the opportunity to be a part of AGC’s international outreach efforts. You will undertake international engagement activities such as the planning, organisation and staffing of official trips and meetings, and coordinate AGC's IR activities with other IR practitioners across the whole-of-Government. Job description: You will attend to media queries, assist in the monitoring and analysis of AGC-related news (including news in the vernacular media) and provide regular updates to senior management. You will provide communications support and counsel for AGC officers in their engagement with the media especially for proceedings in court. You will assist in the development of media plans and digital communications strategies to address public reactions when key announcements are made. You will proactively engage the media by pitching stories to brand and positively profile AGC, its officers and the work it does. In addition, you will also be required to support the planning, organisation and staffing of staff official trips undertaken by senior management. You will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders on IR matters, draft official correspondences and update internal records of IR activities.

What we are looking for

Requirements: • Candidates with previous experience in corporate/public communication s, media and stakeholder engagement, especially in public sector agencies, will be preferred, but not essential. • Prior experience in international relations and stakeholder engagement work will be an advantage. • Excellent command of English. • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and provide sound and strategic advice under tight timelines. • Candidates should possess the passion and drive for corporate communications and media engagement work. • Self-starter, able to work independently and to take initiative • Excellent interpersonal skills and a good team player.
