What the role is

The Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) (“the Authority”) leads Singapore’s digital transformation with infocomm media. To do this, IMDA will develop a dynamic digital economy and cohesive digital society, driven by an exceptional infocomm media (ICM) ecosystem – by developing talent, strengthening business capabilities, and enhancing Singapore’s ICM infrastructure. IMDA also regulates the telecommunications and media sectors to safeguard consumer interests while fostering a pro-business environment, and enhances Singapore’s data protection regime through the Personal Data Protection Commission.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the administration of licences for the operation of radio-communication station/network, dealers dealing in telecommunication equipment, etc.
  • Review and implement radiocommunication/equipment registration policies, frameworks / schemes to ensure that they continue to remain relevant and effective.
  • Review to streamline licensing/equipment registration processes to improve efficiency, customer experience and pro-enterprise orientation for businesses.
  • Assess and verify equipment compliance to cyber security requirements as specified in the relevant IMDA Standards to ensure that the end-user equipment meets specific cyber security requirements to minimise the risks of vulnerabilities against cyber-attack.
  • Undertake the review, implementation and enhancements of IT systems for online licensing application processes supporting licensing regulatory functions to allow for automation and streamlining of processes to improve efficiency.
  • Formulate/review SOPs to ensure that processes are aligned and consistent across the relevant licensing schemes, and to detect gaps/issues in processes and IT systems. 
  • Address queries relating to licensing and equipment registration, standards, cyber security requirements for end-user equipment from the equipment supplier / manufacturer / test laboratory / certification body.

Requirements:

  • Background in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering (Telecommunication) or equivalent with at least 3 or more years of relevant work experiences. Entry-level candidates are welcome to apply
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their business/economic impact. Prior working experience in the telecommunications industry will be an added advantage. 
  • Good interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively and engage with a diverse group of stakeholders 
  • Good writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Position will commensurate with experience.
