What the role is

In the Land & Infrastructure Programmes (LIP) Directorate, you will help shape Singapore’s future living environment by enabling infrastructure investments through the strategic allocation of manpower and funding resources, as well as other financing instruments.

What you will be working on

You will support decision makers in conceptualising and reviewing national programmes and evaluating resourcing requests from our partner ministries: the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of National Development, the Ministry of Sustainability & the Environment and the Ministry of Transport. You can look forward to applying economics in public policy to drive cost effectiveness, efficiency and fiscal sustainability in areas such as environmental sustainability, urban planning and the built environment, as well as air, land, and sea transport. In the process, you will consult internal stakeholders, drive synergies and coherence across different ministries, synthesise a wide range of qualitative and quantitative information, generate robust options and evaluate their trade-offs. What we are looking for

• Keen interest in, and passion for public policy • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to look at issues with system and long-term perspectives • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Numbers give you insights rather than the jitters • Formal training in economics is a distinct advantage • Knowledge in aspects of sustainability, urban planning, the built environment, and/or transport is an advantage but not necessary
