What the role is

School of Applied Science - Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Food Science and Technology/ Food Biotechnology)

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will undertake curriculum development and delivery of diploma-related modules (under the Diploma in Biological Sciences) as well as be involved in applied science-based research projects.

What you will be working on

Job Responsibilities:
• Teach relevant subjects in pre-employment and continuing education training programmes
• Design and develop course materials for pre-employment and continuing education training programmes
• Lead consultancy and research projects
• Supervise and coach students for projects and extracurricular activities (e.g. workshops, competitions)
• Mentor and assist in tracking students’ academic and non-academic performance
• Partake in administrative duties related to the diploma course or within the school and public service
• Deliver planned curriculum to adult learners on scheduled weekday evenings or on weekends and participate in assessment activities
• Establish strong industry links and exposure, with experience in related sectors
• To strengthen the institute's professional network in the food manufacturing and food service sector
• To engage in technical capability development of related laboratories in the school

What we are looking for

Candidates should possess the following:
• Relevant qualifications in Food Science and Technology, or its equivalent disciplines
• At least three years of relevant industry and/or research experience in areas related to fermentation sciences, food microbiology, food product development, shelf-life evaluation and food safety management (HACCP, ISO/FSSC22000)
• Certification in WSQ Food Safety Level 4 or ISO/FSSC22000 FSMS Lead Auditor would be advantageous.

• Proficient in IT, planning and organisation skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
