What you will be working on

You will be responsible for assisting in the formulation of transport security and emergency preparedness policies, doctrines and plans covering aviation, maritime and land transport, including regular horizon scanning of relevant developments worldwide. As part of the team that drives MOT’s transport security policies, you will need to engage local stakeholders and international partners on transport security issues relevant to the development of holistic transport security policies and approaches. Your responsibilities will also include organising, managing and participating in transport and transport security events, and to assist and manage in various other strategic and transport policy and development work. In driving and coordinating MOT’s emergency preparedness efforts, you will assist in ensuring the operational readiness of MOT and its Statutory Boards to deal with contingencies and emergencies. You will also assist in the organisation of contingency exercises and other emergency preparedness activities and provide secretariat support for the Transport Crisis Management Group in the event of emergencies. Additionally, you will work with other Homefront agencies on issues relating to emergency preparedness and response, and support MOT’s participation in various inter-agency and national exercises.

What we are looking for

You should be a Singapore citizen with a keen interest in transport security and emergency preparedness and show understanding of policies, operations and response protocols. . Applicants with working experience in policy or operational positions would also be considered. You should possess good analytical and writing skills, be able to appreciate and understand issues from the strategic perspective, as well as be able to comprehend and coordinate operational details. You should also be a good team player and be able to build good working relations with all levels, while at the same time, be able to function as an independent worker and be able to work under pressure.

About Ministry of Transport

The Mission of Ministry of Transport is to develop Singapore's land, sea and air transport sectors so as to enhance our economic competitiveness and quality of life in a knowledge-based economy. MOT oversees the development and regulation of the following sectors: • Civil Aviation and Air Transport • Maritime and Ports • Land Transport Besides providing an efficient and cost-effective transportation in Singapore, it also strives to make Singapore an international civil aviation and maritime centre for the region. The ministry sets the strategic and policy direction while operations and regulatory works are carried out by the statutory boards under its charge. There are four statutory boards which are established by Acts of Parliament: the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Public Transport Council (PTC). The ministry also oversees the operation of the Transport Safety Investigation Bureau (TSIB).
