What the role is

Be part of URA’s Design and Planning Lab (DPLab), which spearheads URBEX efforts in the experimentation and development of smart planning technologies through Policy-Ops-Tech collaborations. Our teams, with capabilities in data policy, governance, strategy, and engineering, product strategy, business analysis, software engineering, cloud engineering, urban design technologies, data science, AI/ML, and modelling and simulation, collaborate with planners, architects, and policymakers to create insights and digital solutions for Singapore’s urban planning challenges.

What you will be working on

• Assist with the analysis of demographics and housing trends to identify patterns in population movement • Participate in acquisition and processing of datasets from various sources • Collaborate with urban planners to interpret data findings meaningfully in the context of city development • Create visualisations and presentations to communicate findings effectively Learning Outcomes: • Gain practical experience in applying data analysis techniques to real-world urban planning challenges • Develop an understanding of the interaction between population dynamics and URA’s planning strategy considerations • Build technical skills in data manipulation and analysis techniques • Cultivate problem-solving and innovative thinking skills

What we are looking for

• Undergraduates/Postgraduates pursuing Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, Smart City, or other relevant studies. • Familiarity with R or Python Interest in the application of data science in urban planning will be advantageous. • Please indicate your availability for the internship in your application, including the start and end date. • Note that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
