What the role is

Interested in building a Smart Nation with us? We are looking for an outstanding intern to join the Government Data Division (GDD) in developing the capabilities to drive better use of data in the Public Service, through engagements, training and research. As we look towards the next bound of Digital Government, it is more important than ever to uplift our abilities to use data to create solutions that benefit citizens and businesses. At GDD, we rally teams across all agencies to achieve our vision of a public sector that is ‘data-driven to the core’. From working with senior leaders such as Permanent Secretaries on how to transform their organisations to be more data-driven, to developing and implementing initiatives to build up the Government data community, you will have tremendous opportunity to make an out-sized impact to Singapore and Singaporeans through harnessing the use of data to enable more informed policymaking, improved agency operations, and better service delivery.

What you will be working on

1. Develop Capabilities across the Public Service • Support efforts to engage and grow the Government data community through workshops and events • Assist in designing and delivering training workshops for senior public service leaders 2. Conduct Research on Data Capabilities • Contribute to strategies and resources for developing data capabilities in the public sector • Develop and present recommendations based on your research to senior management

What we are looking for

• Adaptable, quick to learn and comfortable with working in a dynamic and fast environment • Able to quickly pick up technical concepts and eager to learn about data • Willing to take the initiative to drive assigned work • Strong communication skills to work with stakeholders • Polytechnic and Undergraduate students from any discipline are welcome to apply!

The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) drives Singapore’s digital development in four key domains — the economy, government, security, and society. MDDI oversees the development of the infocomm technology, cybersecurity, and media sectors; the Government’s digitalisation initiatives; and the national library, national archives, and public libraries. The Ministry is also responsible for effective public communications, and the Government’s information and public communication policies.
