The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) is a new government agency that is being established by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to oversee Singapore’s communicable diseases preparedness, prevention and control, surveillance, risk assessment and outbreak response.
As an officer in the Preparedness and Resilience Planning Division, you will be part of a dynamic team in formulating strategies and developing comprehensive policies and plans to anticipate, prevent, and respond to communicable disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. Your responsibilities will encompass developing a Whole-of-Government (WOG) readiness strategy and plan to guide key sectors in developing pandemic preparedness capabilities/capacities to support national resilience towards pandemic. This includes familiarising with the International Health Regulations (IHR) and fostering collaboration with key sectoral partners to ensure effective response strategies, facilitate operational plan development and mitigate preparedness and response gaps.

What the role is
What you will be working on
Your key responsibilities will include the following:
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies and policies for disease preparedness and resilience planning, including readiness strategies to identify, develop and build up pandemic preparedness capabilities/capacities, and a robust framework for readiness monitoring and evaluation.
• Situational Analysis: Synthesize information from a wide range of sources in a complex environment to provide rigorous analysis to guide decision-making and action.
• Policy Development: Develop and advocate for policies and guidelines related to disease preparedness and resilience, incorporating best practices and meeting public health standards.
• Coordination and Collaboration: Collaborate with multi-sectoral agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective response to infectious disease threats. This includes engagement efforts and operationalisation of pandemic preparedness strategies and plans.
What we are looking for
• Minimally recognised Tertiary education preferably in public health, epidemiology, infectious diseases, or equivalent or work experience in public health-related field would be an added advantage.
• Able to work effectively in a team and collaborate with others.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences, including policymakers, healthcare professionals, and the public.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations and data, assess risks, and develop evidence-based recommendations. Demonstrate strong ability to breakdown complex issues, identify patterns and develop innovative solutions to address the challenges.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and adaptability to changing circumstances and priorities.
