Military Security Department

Permanent

Closing on 31 Dec 2025

What the role is

The mission of MINDEF/SAF is achieved through the twin pillars of diplomacy and deterrence. Our soldiers train and acquire equipment from all over the world, which is made possible only through the strong assurances forged through security partnerships with our counterparts. The international engagements team is a key interface with foreign nations to forge a common understanding on security measures for the mutual protection of each other’s information.

What you will be working on

You will be part of a team that helps to build and strengthen security relationships with MINDEF/SAF’s security counterparts. You will help to review security agreements and various MOUs to ensure that MINDEF/SAF’s security interest is protected, and be the key point of contact when it comes to handling security requests between nations. You will be required to plan for visits by foreign counterparts and will also occasionally be assigned to staff principals’ trips overseas.

What we are looking for

Someone who has excellent communication skills and is comfortable to forge partnerships with international stakeholders. You will need the aptitude to very quickly be familiar with our protection policies, so as to effectively review security documents and agreements with partner nations. Strong grasp of the English (particularly legalistic) language is necessary, and structured writing skills is a must. Some travelling is required for this job.

About Military Security Department

The Military Security Department (MSD)’s core business is in Counter Intelligence and internal security for MINDEF/SAF. MSD was formed in 1975 to counter the threats of espionage, subversion and sabotage against MINDEF/SAF. It began with two main entities, namely the Counter Intelligence Branch (CIB) and Field Security Branch (FSB). Over the years, the department has continued to evolve and our roles expanded in tandem with the changing security environment. Today, our roles also include Counter Terrorism and Cyber Security.
