What the role is
What you will be working on
• Conduct adventure camp activities and facilitate students’ reflection and learning.
• Give safety instructions on technical adventure equipment, and carry out procedures to ensure students’ safety.
• Provide administrative and logistical support to enable the smooth delivery of camp activities.
• Participate in the planning and evaluation of the camps, to ensure that learning objectives are achieved.
As an OAE, you will typically work 5 days a week, which may include Saturdays. Camps are residential and you will be rostered for some overnight duties.
What we are looking for
• A strong interest in outdoor adventure activities.
• Sufficient level of physical fitness and no existing medical conditions that will impair one from carrying out outdoor adventure activities.
• The ability to connect and establish rapport with students.
• The ability to work under stressful conditions and environments.
• The capability to perform and supervise activities at height and in the waters.
• A willingness to work at night and reside at campsites for overnight activities.
• Applicants should have the fitness and resilience required to engage students safely and carry out their duties effectively.
• Experience in conducting outdoor activities for students would be an advantage.
In general, applicants can expect to hear from us within 4 weeks of the close of the application window. In the event where we receive a high number of applications, applicants will receive an update on their status within 6 weeks of the close of the window.
If you are shortlisted, you will be required to attend a 1-day compulsory selection programme at an MOE Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre (OALC), where you will be assessed on your competencies for various height- and water-based activities. Candidates who are further shortlisted following the selection programme will be required to attend a 1-day attachment programme at an MOE OALC, which provides a preview of the job and comprises further assessments by MOE.
