What the role is

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) aims to develop and promote Singapore as a premier global hub and an international maritime centre, and to advance and safeguard Singapore's strategic maritime interests.

Join our Financial Accounting department and play a crucial role in accurate and timely reporting of financial transactions, while maintaining strong vendor and internal stakeholder relationships.

You will be reporting to the Senior Manager/Manager (Financial Accounting).

[What you will be working on]

Core AP Operations and Process Improvements:

  • Optimise daily Account Payables (AP) operations, identify and implement process improvements

  • Manage month-end closing activities (such as accrual posting, Balance Sheet maintenance, bank reconciliation, etc.), ensuring accuracy and timeliness while seeking opportunities for increased efficiency

  • Drive Finance-related projects focused on automation and continuous improvement, including the adoption of RPA and other technologies to streamline the end-to-end payment process

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Develop insightful financial reports and visualisations using tools like PowerBI or Tableau

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, government policies, and internal controls

  • Attend to with internal and external audit queries, ensuring financial transparency and compliance

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders

  • Collaborate across finance functions (Procurement, Financial Planning, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable) to integrate AP processes and support strategic decisions

  • Train internal stakeholders on AP processes, systems, and best practices

Strategic Initiatives and Innovation:

  • Assist in special projects and analyses as required by management

[What we are looking for]

  • Relevant accounting, finance automation and data related experience

  • Fresh entrants to the field with strong potential are welcome to apply

  • Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems (Workday Financials knowledge a plus), and advanced  data analytics skills with ability to interpret financial data and provide insights

  • Excellent attention to detail and priority management

  • Proactive problem-solver with ability to suggest and drive process improvements

  • Effective communication skills at all organisational levels

  • High level of integrity in all aspects of work

  • Adaptability and willingness to expand skills into General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Self-motivated learner enthusiastic about professional development in finance, technology, and sustainability practices
