What the role is
What you will be working on
As part of the team, you will be responsible for the following:
Lead teams in managing various inland, coastal and recreational water and soil monitoring programmes
Oversee and guide team on the review and assessment the water quality monitoring data to address management of public feedback, pollution investigations, as well as review emission standards/limits and control measures or policies
Monitor water/soil quality in accordance with established guidelines to ensure water/soil quality monitoring and sampling programmes are carried out effectively
Manage and guide team on conducting assessments of water quality data trends during pollution incidents, identify possible contributory factors to elevated levels, and propose end points for assessment for normalcy
Oversee and manage bilateral monitoring programmes which includes the verification of monitoring data, preparation of reports and letters for data exchange, participation and presentation of joint monitoring programmes at bilateral meetings
Lead and oversee projects/studies on emerging pollutants to understand the characteristics, sources, formation pathways, dispersion, and health effects of water pollutants
Involve in cross agency development projects with impacts to water quality
Manage the team in evaluating the impact of new developments on water quality (e.g. from Environmental Impact Assessments, Site-Specific Impact Assessments etc)
Manage the team as well as work with other departments in evaluating new environmental quality monitoring technologies for water and soil monitoring, so as to develop internal capabilities for monitoring emerging pollutants
What we are looking for
Degree in Environmental Science, Physics, Chemistry
7 – 10 years of working experience in environmental-related industries
Some knowledge in water quality, data analytics, and/or statistics
Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking and ability to articulate views clearly
Driven, self-motivated and resourceful
Demonstrate ability to undertake work both individually and part of a team
Good command of spoken and written English
Good communication and presentation skills
Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills and ability to articulate thoughts and views clearly
