We welcome you to join our team as: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL SECRETARIAT What the role is The Disciplinary Tribunal Secretariat provides paralegal and secretariat support to facilitate the appointment of Disciplinary Tribunals under the Legal Profession Act 1966 and to manage the disciplinary cases to be heard by the Disciplinary Tribunals.

What you will be working on

You will be expected to: • Facilitate the appointment of Disciplinary Tribunals by the Honourable the Chief Justice under the Legal Profession Act 1966, to hear and investigate matters against Advocates & Solicitors. This includes drafting a summary of the case. • Assist the Disciplinary Tribunal (“DT”) in administering the disciplinary process, including but not limited to:  Manage disciplinary cases to be heard by a DT, to ensure that the cases run on track and parties comply with the timelines in the proceedings.  Review and process correspondence from the parties to the DT, draft responses to the parties for consideration and use by the DT, and provide invaluable inputs to the DT to assist the DT to make informed decisions.  Independent liaison with counsel for parties and other stakeholders on the preparation of cases and documents placed before the DT for a DT hearing.  Manage the hearing schedules and facilities for a DT hearing and provide administrative support to the DT during the conduct of hearings and pre-hearing conferences. • Compile the Record of Proceedings and ensure the systematic maintenance of records. • Develop and implement policies, operational strategies and processes, procedures, practices and templates to provide robust, effective and efficient administrative support for all DT matters. • Manage the database of DT cases, and implement a digitized records management framework for the DT Secretariat. • Develop methodology for, and monitor compliance with, Key Performance Indicators and procedures relating to disciplinary proceedings, and maintain statistics on DT cases for reporting. • Work out the annual budget for the DT Secretariat. • Maintain a list of potential presidents and members who may be appointed to a DT. • Liaise with the relevant authorities regarding requests for information on DT proceedings.

What we are looking for

• Preferably with 5 – 7 years of working experience in paralegal, administration and management or in an operations role • Legal training will be an advantage • Strong in administrative and organisational skills • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Good command of the English language • Able to work under pressure • Organised and meticulous • Pro-active and able to work independently as well as in a team Note: The successful candidate will be appointed on a one-year probationary contract in the first instance.
