1. Administrate legislative submission requirements for Written Approval / Trade Effluent Scheme / General Waste Collection disposal permit applications
2. Plan and execute surveillance and enforcement programme to ensure factories and eating establishments comply to legislations; Programme include assess risk profile of factory and inspection intervals, perform inspections on factory, lead investigation work into non-compliance, and factory engagement, etc.
3. Review and propose amendments to legislations to address emerging needs
4. Plan and execute source tracing exercises to illegal dischargers and ambushes on suspected dischargers
5. Plan and execute engagement programme to raise awareness and education to industries and other stakeholders on trade effluent discharge
6. Build manpower competence and technologies capability to enhance existing surveillance and enforcement programme
7. Plan, review, execute and manage procurement contracts and technological projects
8. Work with other Branches to resolve public feedback cases involving illegal discharge into sewers and grease encrustations causing flow impediment issues
• Carry out regular inspections and cleaning of public sewers
• Ensure that damaged public sewers and manholes are repaired promptly and properly
• Work with the Public Feedback & Service Quality unit to resolve feedback cases that the First Response Teams are unable to resolve
• Trace the sources of rainwater inflow and infiltration, inspect premises with suspected inflow points, and work with Private Systems Unit on the rectification works required
• Implement public engagement programmes to educate the public and reduce sewer chokes caused by user behaviour
• Support the Principal Engineer in the management and calling of term contracts
• Carry out data analysis so as to optimise the use of limited resources to minimise service disruptions
• Explore and implement new technologies to improve the efficiency and safety of the team
