InternshipClosed

What the role is

Mapping Economic Opportunities and Strategic Engagement of Brazilian States, Americas Division

What you will be working on

The intern would be developing a comprehensive framework to guide MTI’s state-level engagement of Brazil. The intern will be tasked with researching the economic opportunities across Brazil’s states (including, but not limited to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, and Santa Catarina), considering political considerations, key stakeholders and potential risks/challenges in each state. The intern will analyse how state-specific dynamics can influence our engagement strategies, and will develop a prioritisation matrix that aligns with MTI’s economic and political objectives. This framework will help to guide MTI’s strategic engagement of Brazil as we begin to explore untapped opportunities in Brazil beyond the federal level. The intern can also take into consideration how Singaporean businesses may utilise the MERCOSUR-Singapore FTA (MCSFTA) to enter the different states in the Brazilian market once it enters into force. In addition, the intern will have opportunities to support the day-to-day work of the Americas Division which would include drafting/updating economic papers, coordinating meetings, and preparing meeting briefs and minutes.

What we are looking for

Candidates in a relevant field of study (Economics, Political Science, International Relations, or related disciplines) with excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal) skills are preferred.
