Climate change is a global existential threat, and Singapore is doing its part to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions for a more sustainable future. The power sector contributes about 40% of Singapore's greenhouse gas emissions. We need to significantly reduce the power sector's emissions, while ensuring that the power system remains secure, reliable, and sustainable. To overcome our land constraints, Singapore is looking to tap on electricity imported from regional power grids, to allow Singapore to access cleaner energy resources outside Singapore's borders.
You will join a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team tasked to facilitate imports into Singapore and regional grid interconnections. Specifically, you will join the Re-Imagining Future Power (RFP) branch in the Energy Connections Office, where your key responsibilities include:
• Negotiating with interested companies on their proposals, and evaluating such proposals to meet our requirements for security, competitiveness and sustainability;
• Engaging overseas government bodies to facilitate imports; and
Ensuring that electricity imports projects are implemented on time.
Requirements:
We are looking for people with a keen interest in energy issues and passion for the public service. You must be excited about learning new things, comfortable with navigating ambiguity, challenging the status quo, and willing to speak up and put forward new solutions. You must have a good grasp of quantitative and qualitative skills and be prepared to deep-dive into the relevant subject areas. You should have strong interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with stakeholders. You should also be a team player and be prepared to travel overseas for work. Those with prior experience in electricity trading, industry engagement and project management will have an advantage.
