What the role is
The Trade Division drives the formulation of Singapore's foreign economic policy and safeguards Singapore's economic interests in the international economic arena.
The South Asia, Middle East and Africa Division (SAMEA) is a division within Trade that develops and implements policies aimed at growing Singapore's economic relations with over 70 countries in these regions. The job scope includes driving initiatives such as bilateral platforms, pursuing economic agreements, and staffing of Ministerial visits.
What you will be working on
• Formulate policies to grow two-way trade, investment and people flows with India
• Negotiate and implement trade agreements and MOUs with India, such as the India Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement, MOUs in Semiconductor, and Science & Technology
• Develop and implement strategies that increase collaboration with India in new areas to create downstream opportunities for Singapore companies
• Promote Singapore’s economic engagement of India through supporting regular visits, meetings and cooperation between Singapore and India
What we are looking for
• A related field of study in disciplines such as, but not limited to, Economics, Political Science, International Relations
• An interest in economic development, international relations and the emerging markets, particularly in South Asia, and/or Middle East
• Enjoy a fast-paced, challenging environment
• Good writing, analytical and communication skills
• Independent, energetic and resourceful
