What the role is

You will be part of a team that works closely with our statutory boards and across Government to build vibrant manufacturing industry verticals, promote a conducive business environment, and ensure that the fruits of economic growth benefit all Singaporeans.

What you will be working on

Specifically, your team will: • Champion the sustainable growth of key manufacturing industries that generate outsized impact and contribute to our economic heft • Optimise and unlock resource constraints to pursue and anchor key investments in strategic sectors • Review the performance of individual sectors, identify opportunities for transformation and restructuring, and design plans to incubate nascent industries • Evaluate our incentive promotion toolkit for key strategic projects, in support of our national economic agenda • Formulate Singapore’s policy responses to emerging issues such as on economic security and supply chain resilience, given global/regional developments. You will have ample opportunities to work with the Ministry’s Political Office Holders and Senior Management, partners from across Government (especially the Economic Development Board and Enterprise Singapore), and industry stakeholders. What we are looking for

To excel in this role, you should be comfortable with: • Translating knowledge and insights into practical frameworks, strategies and policy recommendations • Working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to organisational needs and priorities • Assessing various viewpoints and proposing recommendations with clear articulation of benefits and trade-offs, employing data, insights, and credible external perspectives in the process • Rallying and leading engagements among multiple stakeholders within and outside of the public service You should have: • intellectual versatility and curiosity • a positive and conscientious attitude, with a focus on results • an aptitude and passion for policy work • ability to work with multiple stakeholders • outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills • excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills • keen interest in current affairs, especially in relation to global economic developments • firm grasp of basic economic concepts and principles, preferably some familiarity with tools/methodologies in econometrics, strategy development, horizon scanning and competitive analysis
