The Smart City Division is part of the Smart Nation Group under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and administered by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information. The division plays a multifaceted role in engaging Whole-of-Government (WOG) agencies to identify:
• Blockers that impede Singapore’s Smart City goals
• Areas for collaboration across WOG to optimise resources

What you will be working on
Do you believe the WOG can operate more efficiently and deliver better public service by working together to solve problems?

As part of the Smart City Strategy, Policy and Concepts team, you will engage WOG agencies to share about Smart City goals and understand the challenges in their efforts. In doing so, you will help define problem statements (if necessary) and identify areas that require intervention by PMO / MDDI through regulation / policy reviews, multi-agency collaboration, funding support and open innovation challenges for technological solutions. These efforts will likely involve change management ranging from concept of operations, lived experience of citizens to physical and digital infrastructure. Concurrently, you will also engage international counterparts who are keen to learn from Singapore’s experience / best practices in pursuing our Smart City goals and vis-versa.
• Understand Singapore’s near and long-term national challenges that are associated with the Smart City goals
• Keep abreast of Smart City efforts across WOG and internationally
• Identify areas for intervention and prioritize efforts that contribute towards Singapore’s Smart City goals
• Lead a team of officers in working with internal and external stakeholders, as well as members of public
• Assess requests by local and international community before deciding to host them and share about Singapore’s Smart City experience / best practices
• Support Divisional Director in representing Singapore at ASEAN Smart City Network Annual Meeting and associated events
• Work with WOG agencies to create opportunities for locally developed Smart City solutions to be scaled overseas
• Groom officers in the team to prepare them for higher appointments

• Strategic thinking and resourcefulness to navigate through unchartered and dynamic landscape
• Leadership to guide the team and uplift their competencies
• Business acumen to identify opportunities that align with Smart City goals
• Relevant experience and skills in public service would be an advantage
