A joint regulatory office for Major Hazard Installations (MHIs) helmed by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), with the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF)
Regulate Major Hazard Installations (MHI), assess their Safety Cases and investigate process-related incidents for the prevention of major accidents. Provide technical guidance to meet the needs of our stakeholders, and contribute to the control of risks from major hazards, including addressing safety and health issues of the workforce.

What the role is
What you will be working on
• Assessing safety cases of MHIs, with the aim of preventing major accidents
• Conducting safety case verifications through inspections of MHIs
• Monitoring MHIs in their implementation of safety case action plans and safety and health management systems
• Investigating process-related incidents in MHIs to establish root causes and determine areas of improvement in safety cases
• Assessing cumulative risk profiles of MHI clusters to better manage issues related to land use planning and emergency response
• Planning and coordinating safety case submissions from MHIs, including Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) submissions
• Engaging MHIs to promote sharing of process safety best practices and lessons learnt from incidents
• Collaborating with agencies, MHIs, associations and other stakeholders to promote best practices in process safety among management, WSH professionals, employees and service providers
What we are looking for
• Tertiary qualification in Chemical / Environmental / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering;
• Registered Professional Engineer or equivalent specialised qualifications would be advantageous
• Preferably 2 or more years of experience in the field of process safety;
• Effective in problem analysis and decision making – identifying problems, recognising symptoms, root causes and alternative solutions, making timely and sound decisions;
• Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, inter-agency colleagues and industry representatives; and
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, and readily respond to challenges.
