What the role is

The Early Childhood and Development Agency (ECDA) is Singapore’s regulatory and developmental agency for the early childhood sector. The Child Development (CD) Division in ECDA works closely with key sector partners on timely detection of children with developmental needs, provision of appropriate early intervention services, manpower planning and capability development. The Office of Chief Psychologist (OCP) provides thought and practice leadership with regard to policy, programmes and practices, and plans for psychological services within the Ministry and social service sector. Specifically, it provides professional consultations, training, research and evaluation in the field of psychology and mental health.

What you will be working on

ECDA CD and OCP conduct research that focus on integrating social scientific principles in the early childhood research and developing scientifically informed solutions to improve early intervention for children with developmental needs. The post-graduate researcher will provide higher-level inputs to the research projects and will be involved in leading and managing all aspects of the research. Duties of selected candidates include, but are not limited to, performing literature reviews, initiating and conceptualising research projects, preparing research materials for data collection, administering psychological tests, data entry/coding, statistical analysis, writing reports, preparing presentations, managing multiple projects, and communicating with stakeholders involved in the research.

What we are looking for

• A Masters or Ph.D from reputable university in Psychology, Early Childhood Education or a closely-related field • Familiarity in implementation, evaluation, measurement, and data sciences will be an advantage • In-depth expertise in Data Analytics and Research and proficient in the use of analytic software (e.g. SPSS, R, Mplus etc) • Ability to proactively lead, initiate, conceptualise, manage, implement, and complete research projects • Experience in, and comfortable with, working with young children and children with developmental needs • Experience in, and comfortable with, Stakeholder Engagement • Good time management, ability and willingness to multi-task and work under time pressure from multiple stakeholders and tight timelines • Effective interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate with diverse partners and engage stakeholders • Team player and able to work independently • Strong interest in early childhood research • Strong oral and written communication skills • Able to problem-solve and provide creative/innovative solutions
