What the role is
What you will be working on
1. Conduct human-technology interface research with safety and security implications
• Design and lead research to examine the relationship between technology and the mental health and performance of Home Team (HT) officers, as well as the relationship between technology and effectiveness of HT operations
• Conduct research on technological trends that present both opportunities and threats to the HT, with a focus on behavioural research
• Maintain accurate records of research activities, including data collection and analysis, and ensure compliance with ethical standards in research
• Produce effective research products that cater to different audience types (e.g., infographics, brief reports, technical reports, PowerPoint slides)
• Communicate research progress findings in written or oral presentation formats to a variety of stakeholders
2. Integration of technology to enhance existing psychological interventions and programmes
• Develop instruments and tools to facilitate psychological interventions and programmes (e.g., personnel and talent selection, counselling, morale management).
• Validate technological tools and processes through academic and empirical research
• Ensure the development process and emergent technological products and tools are aligned with prevailing Ministry and national data management requirements, and guidelines
3. Develop partnerships with private and public stakeholders for internal capability building in the domain of psychology-technology
• Identify and engage stakeholders with shared interests in the domain, for cross-sharing and partnerships
• Identify and engage with subject matter experts to upskill HT psychologists on matters relating to the use of technology to enhance psychological interventions
• To regularly review and consolidate/ update existing professional best practices and standards in the domain, and communicate such professional best practices and standards to the HT psychology community
• To identify key learning and development platforms (e.g., courses and conferences, agencies for work trips and exchanges) for upskilling of HT psychologists in the domain
4. Others
• Support administrative work that is being undertaken by HTPD
• Any other tasks as directed by the Chief Psychologist and reporting supervisor
What we are looking for
• Basic knowledge on psychological assessments, mental health and forensic psychology preferred.
• Basic knowledge of coding, data governance and security preferred
• Knowledge on psychometrics and psychological research methods
o Able to create and implement research protocols for data collection, including experiments, surveys, interviews, and focus groups
o Able to collect and analyse data related to the topic, using appropriate quantitative statistical and qualitative methods
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, R and/or Python)
• Adequate writing and communication skills
• Strong task and time management skills
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to organise and engage partners on joint initiatives
