What the role is

Join our dynamic and newly established team, where you will play a vital role in shaping Singapore Customs' analytics capabilities. As a Data Analyst, you will not only focus on data analysis but also engage in essential data administration tasks. You will have the opportunity to build the foundation of our data architecture, systems, tools, and methodologies to better support Singapore Customs' business goals and targets. Explore trade and traveler data sets in Singapore and create impactful solutions across the organisation. Your contributions will include developing and implementing data processes and structures to enhance the adoption of data science and analytics within Singapore Customs.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities: • Develop data analytics models to solve complex problems and extract business insights in an environment of rapid growth and increasing complexity. • Analyse the data and develop and deploy prediction, classification models and AI-enabled applications. • Develop processes and tools to monitor, analyse and improve model performance and data accuracy. • Communicate the results and impact of your solutions with data visualisation tools and propose solutions and strategies to improve performance. • Deepen data analytics capability in Singapore Customs, including training and guiding business users in collection, processing and interpretation of data. • Assist in the setup and optimisation of our analytic platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organisation. • Work closely with business units and technical teams to operationalise data science and AI projects, develop strategy for long term data analytics structure and architecture for Singapore Customs.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to take on diverse challenges as we grow together. Requirements 1) At least 3 years of working experience as a Data Analyst. 2) Proficiency in using algorithms related to natural language processing, data mining, machine learning, deep learning and other AI areas. 3) At least 2 years of industry experience in using Python and SQL. Experience in R, SAS Scripts, etc. is a plus. 4) Experience in extract, transform and load, data pre-processing, data cleansing and validation, as well as data modelling. 5) Relevant certifications such as from DataCamp, Udemy or Coursera is a plus. 6) Strong analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude. 7) Strong communication skills to explain technical solutions to business partners. 8) Good problem-solving ability to ensure that application issues are being responded to and resolved proactively. 9) Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently and as a member of a team.

About Singapore Customs

Singapore Customs is a government agency under the Ministry of Finance. Re-constituted on 1 April 2003, Singapore Customs is the lead agency on trade facilitation and revenue enforcement matters. It is also responsible for the implementation of customs and trade enforcement measures including those related to Free Trade Agreements and strategic goods.
