What the role is
What you will be working on
In this position, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to realise key planning datasets to support long-term planning. This includes:
• conducting business analysis to design systems and tools around planning workflows
• identifying data needs based on planning use cases
• aligning data attributes and schema for key planning datasets
• developing scripts / tools to clean and assemble the datasets, and document the processes
• researching relevant tools and developing them to apply / adopt
• setting up the systems and tools to automatically update the datasets
You will also be involved in reviewing and updating Singapore’s Long Term Land Use Plan based on evolving trends and changing demands of Singapore’s economic, housing and transportation needs. Collaborating with stakeholders, you will draw up strategic land use and infrastructure plans and policies to guide Singapore’s long term physical development, and translate them into detailed planning guidelines to facilitate implementation. This includes conducting data-driven analysis, undertaking research on urban development and managing trade-offs to contribute towards a highly liveable, economically vibrant and resilient Singapore.
What we are looking for
Requirements
• A degree/postgraduate diploma in urban and regional planning, civil engineering, transport planning, environmental studies, building, real estate, geography. In the alternative, candidates without a degree should possess at least 2 years of planning-related research experience.
• Strong interest in the physical urban development of Singapore
• Experience with data management tools such as SQL, Python, Excel or R, or experience with data collection / wrangling / analysis / visualisation
• Have good knowledge and experience of using GIS, preferably with experience using Python in GIS
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills, with good presentation skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Quick learners, with a strong interest to learn
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is Singapore's national land use planning authority. URA prepares long term strategic plans, as well as detailed local area plans, for physical development, and then co-ordinates and guides efforts to bring these plans to reality.
