What the role is

This is a 2-year contract position as a Lecturer, Mechatronics & Robotics in the School of Engineering.

What you will be working on

As a Lecturer in Mechatronics & Robotics, you will play a key role in equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for the evolving field of robotics. Your primary responsibilities include teaching and mentoring students in robotic system design, integration, and autonomous systems. You will also assess student work, supervise final-year projects, and engage in industry collaborations to ensure students gain relevant, hands-on experience.

Beyond teaching, you will participate in research, industry projects, and curriculum development to enhance learning outcomes. A strong background in Mechatronics, Robotics, or related fields is required, with expertise in robotic programming, sensor integration, and motion control.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, and hands-on practical in mechatronics and robotics.

  • Provide practical training in robotic system integration, mobile robotics, and autonomous systems.

  • Teach deployment and operation of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and robotic systems, including sensor calibration, motion control, and navigation.

  • Guide students in robotic system integration, focusing on robotic arms, cobots, and motion planning.

  • Supervise and mentor students in final-year projects

  • Prepare and assess assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests, and maintain student records.

  • Support student learning through consultations and mentorship.

  • Train and prepare students for local and international competitions.

  • Involve in technology projects as a final year project supervisor, or as a member or principal investigator.

  • Identify and establish new collaboration opportunities with industry partners.

  • Manage course administration, including curriculum development and academic planning.

  • Organise and lead overseas study trips, immersion programs, and student exchange initiatives.

What we are looking for

  • A relevant degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.

  • At least 3 years of industry experience in robotics, mechatronics, or related fields.

  • Experience in robotic system integration, sensor technologies, and autonomous system deployment.

  • Proficiency in robotic programming (C++, Python, ROS or similar) and knowledge of system integration.

  • Passion for teaching, mentoring, and student development.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to develop engaging curriculum content and deliver hands-on training.

  • Commitment to staying updated with industry advancements and integrating new technologies into teaching.
