What the role is

Applications for the Ministry of Finance (MOF) Summer Internship Programme are now open. As an MOF intern, you will gain valuable insights and contribute to projects that support national policy-making and shape the everyday lives of Singaporeans. Interns are required to commit at least 10 weeks between May to Aug 2025. MOF's Performance & Evaluation Directorate is looking for undergraduates to undertake the following project(s). Note: You are welcome to apply for internships/projects with different MOF Directorates if the topics suit your interest and experience. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to indicate your preferred project(s) prior to the selection interview. Applications close 21 Feb. What you will be working on

Project #1: Review of Performance Management and reporting efforts • Assist in reviewing and recommending ways to enhance and streamline public performance reporting efforts, while ensuring that the objectives are met. • Assist in developing the medium-term plan to guide Whole-of-Government (WOG) Performance Reporting, for more sustained and impactful reporting. This includes identifying key focal areas for reporting and proposing the appropriate publicity approach. • Tasks may include, but not be limited to: - Conducting international and domestic landscape studies of performance management and reporting efforts in the public sector; - Sense making of agencies’ feedback, and reaching out to agencies on clarifications; - Coming up with appropriate recommendations; and - Planning and executing project management tasks. • A successful candidate should ideally have some knowledge and skills in programming, particularly Generative AI and web scrapping, and an interest in policy making and/or research. Project #2: Analysis of material irregularities declarations and audit findings root cause analysis submissions by agencies • Assist in analysing agencies’ inputs on material irregularities and audit findings root cause analysis to identify trends and systemic issues. • Tasks may include, but not be limited to: - Sense making and analysing data to identify trends and systemic issues; - Identifying recovery and preventive actions by agencies which would be useful to cross-share across agencies as learning points; - Recommend possible centrally coordinated initiatives/measures to address systemic issues; and - Conducting international and domestic landscape studies to strengthen recommendations on recovery, preventive and centrally coordinated measures that could be put in place. • A successful candidate should ideally be comfortable in analysing both qualitative and quantitative data relating to finance, procurement and grants operational processes.
