What the role is

To oversee and enhance Islamic Education (IE) operations in Singapore through policy development, stakeholder engagement and strategic research. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of Islamic Education within the community, with a focus on part-time Islamic education for the youth.

What you will be working on

Policy Development and Management 

  • Review and update existing policies for part-time Islamic Education programmes to ensure they meet the current standards and community needs
  • Develop new policies to address emerging challenges and opportunities in part-time Islamic Education
  • Implement and monitor policy effectiveness across various IE centres and programmes

Programme Evaluation and Improvement 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive evaluation framework for part-time IE programmes. 
  • Facilitate communication between various IE centres to ensure consistency in programme delivery and policy implementation
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current part-time IE curricula in meeting the spiritual and educational needs of Muslim youth in Singapore 

What we are looking for

Education and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary education in Islamic Studies, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field. A postgraduate degree would be an advantage.
  • Formal qualifications in research methodologies or evidence of substantial research experience.

Language Proficiency:

  • Excellent command of English: Ability to write comprehensive reports, policies, and research papers.
  • Fluency in Malay: Capable of conducting interviews, facilitating discussions, and engaging with the local Muslim community.
  • Proficiency in Arabic: Able to read and understand classical Islamic texts and contemporary Arabic educational resources.

Teaching and Educational Experience:

  • Experience in teaching Islamic education, preferably in a part-time or after-school setting.
  • Understanding of curriculum development and implementation in religious education contexts.
  • Experience in adult education or teacher training would be beneficial.

Additional Desirable Qualities:

  • Familiarity with Singapore's education system and policies.
  • Experience in policy development or implementation in an educational setting.

Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis.
