What the role is

The Policy & Planning team is part of the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) in PMO-Strategy Group. The team drives policies across the Whole-of-Government (WOG) to achieve sustainable population outcomes for a dynamic Singapore, in domains including but not limited to talent, immigration and local-foreigner relations.

What you will be working on

We are looking for a senior individual contributor to drive policy development that will underpin Singapore’s immediate and longer-term population strategies: • Policy development and coordination: Develop cross-cutting strategies to address Singapore’s immediate and longer-term population challenges and needs, which entails deep thinking on the interface between our demographic, talent, immigration and social landscape, among others. • Data analysis and sensemaking: Work closely with internal and cross-agency partners to provide sharp analyses of population trends regularly, to help decision makers make timely and informed population-related calls. • Strategic communications: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to devise strategies to communicate challenging population issues.

What we are looking for

• Strong critical thinking and communication skills. Curiosity is key. We value people that interrogate assumptions. • Experience in policy work is preferred. • Strong interpersonal skills and humility are musts. We work with many stakeholders daily and need to internalise various trade-offs. • Familiarity and/or confidence to work with data/data analytics tools, is a significant plus

About PMO - Strategy Group

The Strategy Group in the Prime Minister’s Office drives Whole-of-Government strategic planning, and partners government agencies on policy development. It identifies key priorities and emerging issues over the medium to long term, such as population and climate change; it influences strategic resource allocation; and catalyses new functions and capabilities in order to deliver policies that are in the long-term interest of Singapore.
