What the role is

We are seeking an experienced Lead Consultant to serve as the primary subject matter expert on AI Security for our agency. The successful candidate will represent the agency at Whole-of-Government (WoG) forums and industry events, providing technical advice on AI security risks, mitigation strategies, and best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of AI technologies, security principles, and risk management. The Lead Consultant will collaborate with other government agencies and industry partners to develop coordinated approaches to AI security challenges, while staying at the forefront of global AI security trends and regulatory developments.

What you will be working on

Responsibilities • Lead the team in conducting thorough security assessments of AI models, algorithms, and infrastructures, identifying vulnerabilities and potential attack vectors specific to AI systems, developing methodologies for assessing security risks of AI systems and designing robust security architectures for AI systems, including model isolation and access controls. • Provide technical oversight to the team in implementing secure development practices and mentor the team in developing and implementing strategies to enhance AI model robustness against adversarial examples and attacks. • Lead the team in developing technical policies and advisories for the safe adoption of AI technologies, providing recommendations to de-risk AI adoption for Government Agencies, Critical Information Infrastructures Owners and Enterprises. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI security into broader organizational security frameworks. • Foster collaboration with other government agencies and industry partners through developing and implementing coordinated approaches to AI security challenges. • Provide expert advice to senior management and stakeholders on AI security risks, mitigation strategies, and best practices, delivering technical insights on cybersecurity implications of AI technologies and their strategic impact on national digital infrastructure. • Represent agency in national and international platforms such as standards committees, conferences and collaborative research initiatives, engaging local and international partners for knowledge exchange and thought leadership in AI Security domains to foster collaboration.

What we are looking for

Requirements • Minimum 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years focused on AI/ML security. • Possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, including neural networks, deep learning, and reinforcement learning. • Strong knowledge of software development, system architecture and network architecture. • Familiarity with relevant AI security frameworks and standards. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Proven track record in leading and mentoring technical teams. • Experience working in cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams. • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, OSCP) and knowledge in security testing methodologies are a plus.
