What the role is
The Pollution Control Policy Department (PCPD) in the Pollution Control 2 Division (PCD2) is involved in the review and development of policies, regulations and standards relating to air, water, land, and noise pollution to safeguard the environmental quality of Singapore. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that pollution control measures put in place remain relevant and effective. You may also be exposed to enforcement operations to facilitate policy development.
What you will be working on
As part of the team, you will be responsible for the following:
Review and develop environmental policies, regulations, and standards/guidelines to manage air, water, land, and noise pollution in Singapore
Review of Environmental Site Assessment/remediation reports which includes interpreting environmental data and risk assessment
Review and develop environmental policies, regulations, and standards/guidelines for the safe use of recycled waste materials
Perform research and analysis on policies, regulations and standards/guidelines relating to environmental pollution (e.g. air, water, land, and noise pollution)
Engage relevant stakeholders (e.g. companies, industry associations and external agencies) in the development and review of environmental policies, regulations, and standards/guidelines
Keep abreast of developments in environmental pollution (e.g. air, water, land, noise) control in other countries
What we are looking for
Degree in Science (e.g. Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology)
At least 2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in environmental site assessment
Good analytical, writing and communication skills
Good team player and ability to see through assigned tasks independently
Meticulous with an eye for details
Skills in environmental modelling and simulation are preferred
