What the role is

The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a society, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in our City in Nature.

The Wildlife Management Division in Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) Cluster manages wildlife in Singapore and engages the community on human-wildlife encounters in our City in Nature.

What you will be working on

We are seeking passionate and highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team working on projects in urban ecology and wildlife management. The key work responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, including developing robust study designs, conducting extensive fieldwork in diverse environments, and performing in-depth data analysis to enhance our understanding of forest and urban wildlife ecosystems.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to applied ecological research that will have a direct translational impact on wildlife management practices and urban planning policies in Singapore. Additionally, successful candidates may have the chance to engage in public education initiatives and community outreach programmes, helping to raise awareness about urban wildlife and promote coexistence between humans and nature in our city.

What we are looking for

- Area of studies in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Science or any science related discipline is preferred
- An organized, creative, and resourceful team player who can work independently
- Possess good writing, interpersonal and communication skills
- Willing to work on weekends and after office hours
- Enjoys working in an outdoor environment and preferably possessing a Class 3 driving license
