Singapore Polytechnic Library is a dynamic learning hub, providing our students with resources, services and an environment that enables them to discover their interests, connect with ideas, resources and expertise, and create content, concepts and prototypes. As a forward-looking library, it was one of the first academic libraries in Singapore to have a fully automated library system. It was an early adopter in the use of design thinking in the transformation of library spaces, and also set up a Makerspace within the Library. The Library is part of the Department of Academic Quality and Resources.

What the role is

You will either report to the manager or lead the team to:

Develop strategies and plans to leverage AI for teaching, learning, curation and research
Drive, develop and implement AI services for teaching, learning, curation and research
Engage with schools/departments and partner them on curriculum development, learning resources, education research, and new educational initiatives
Lead AI projects with other polytechnic libraries
Initiate and develop programmes to educate students on AI and digital competencies and project research

Responsibilities

Drive exploration and use of generative AI tools and services to raise capability and productivity of teaching staff and enhance learning for students.
Develop and plan new services or enhancements to meet changing needs by tapping on new technologies
Manage and monitor quality and effective provision of services, including through use of data/analytics dashboards
Lead team to engage and collaborate with schools to provide services to support teaching and learning in areas such as:
- Curation and business intelligence
- Curriculum content and development, course review and proposals
- Research writing and resources
- AI literacy and digital competency for staff and students
Work with other polytechnic libraries on shared areas and innovative services.
Develop team members to succeed in their roles and meet individual work and organisational goals.

What we are looking for

Tertiary qualifications in library and information studies or related fields
Ability to do strategic planning and development of library services and operations
Ability to develop partnerships with staff, students and external partners
Experience in using generative AI for various tasks and prompt engineering skills
Preferably with knowledge/experience in the following:
- Development of services which tap on generative AI and other emerging technologies
- Library curation and research services
- Familiarity with data analytics and tools
Experience leading and managing work or project teams and developing staff
Innovative, creative, adaptable and resourceful mindset in seeking and implementing solutions
Team player with ability to work well with colleagues, staff and students and external partners
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present ideas and proposals to stakeholders.
Service-oriented outlook with empathy for users.

Successful applicant will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
