The job holder supports International Organisations & Security Directorate (IOSD) to strategise MHA’s safety and security interests in international conventions and resolutions. The job holder will attend and staff international conferences and meetings such as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Human Rights Council (HRC) sessions, and other meetings helmed by international organisations. Where appropriate, the job holder will deliver interventions and negotiate resolutions at international platforms.

What the role is
What you will be working on
The job holder will monitor international developments and identify emerging issues and concerns impacting MHA’s policies and Singapore’s international standing. The job holder will coordinate MHA’s input on defensive interests for the periodic reporting of international human rights instruments that Singapore is a State Party to (e.g. UN International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child).
The job holder will work with relevant agencies to assess and recommend suitable opportunities to enable cooperation in the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief domain in line with MHA’s international engagement strategies.
What we are looking for
• Knowledge of other languages would be of asset but not essential
• Good networking skills
• Good communications and writing skills; independent and possesses strong team spirit
• Critical thinking and analysis skills
• 5 years of work experience, preferably in international relations, policy, operations, or communications function
• A strong interest in current affairs and international relations work
• A strong appreciation of MHA’s work in the safety and security domain
• Possesses strong leadership qualities and is able to guide junior officers
• Good appreciation of cultural, political, and religious sensitivities
• Avid reader of international politics and development of different countries
• Able to both think strategically, and deep dive into content
• Confident and accountable
