What the role is

Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) plays a multifaceted role in guiding Singapore's digital transformation and leading the development of Smart Nation strategies. In addition to driving the digitalisation of government services, the group oversees the development and application of digital technologies and capabilities across Singapore. It also promotes digital inclusivity, while regulating data and online activities and strengthening digital security. Through its comprehensive approach, the group strives to create a digitally empowered and inclusive society, positioning Singapore as a global leader in the digital era.

What you will be working on

The National AI Group (NAIG) is responsible for the development and implementation of our National AI Strategy (NAIS). It brings together government, industry, and research stakeholders to implement National AI Projects in key sectors in Singapore and builds AI ecosystem enablers in a deliberate manner to anchor AI development and deployment in Singapore. In addition to its responsibility to implement the NAIS, NAIG facilitates and drives collaborations with industry and R&D players to build up AI capabilities within the Singapore Government. You will be part of the Research directorate within NAIG. Specific Job Responsibilities - What do we expect from you? As Senior Manager / Assistant Director (Research), you will be responsible for: (i) Developing plans and grant schemes that will build up AI research capabilities and support the translation of research (ii) Working with agencies and companies to leverage research to drive sectoral outcomes. This would include identifying major use cases, resolving stumbling blocks and putting place necessary research infrastructure (iii) Engaging international research organisations to strengthen Singapore’s research network and profile Who will you work with in achieving these objectives: You are part of a larger network of agencies that are working together to achieve the NAIS goals. These include NRF, IMDA, EDB, A*STAR, GovTech and CSA. You will also work closely with public research institutions and industry corporate labs. What makes this role unique, and what will you learn? What we are looking for

An ideal candidate should possess the following: • At least 5 years of working experience in conceptualising, structuring, and implementing technology partnerships • Familiarity with AI technology and capabilities • This role will require you to be sufficiently familiar at a savvy user / technology translator level as you will need to speak with highly technical experts as well as business leaders. We don’t need you to be a researcher, but we need you to be able to talk credibly to one. • Experience working in the public sector or in a research organisation Personal traits: • Self-starter with strong organisational and coordination skills who is able to multi-task and get things done in a fast-paced environment • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage a wide spectrum of external and internal stakeholders, and orchestrate collaborations with stakeholders • Resourceful and proactive, able to work around ambiguity • Strong team player able to contribute and lead in a cross-functional team We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates would be notified.
