The Community Relations Unit (CRU) is a new and growing team, set up to pilot a new concept of operations to tackle severe neighbour noise disputes and hoarding cases.
CRU is part of the Municipal Services Office (MSO), which works to improve and transform the Government's delivery of municipal services, so that Singaporeans continue to enjoy a high-quality living environment.

What the role is
What you will be working on
As a Senior Assistant Director (Legal), CRU, you will be assessing investigations into severe and protracted neighbour noise and hoarding cases. Your job scope will include:
• Determining the appropriate course of action, which may include prosecutions;
• Advising on CRU’s powers, arising from the Community Disputes Resolution Act;
• Working with policy makers to propose legislative amendments and subsidiary legislation;
• Appearing in Court for prosecution and/or matters before the Community Disputes Resolution Act; and
• Assisting with all other legal and regulatory matters which may arise during CRU’s operations.
• Conducting training for Community Relations Officers on criminal procedure and evidence
You will also work closely with planning officers within the CRU and officers from other Government agencies such as Singapore Police Force and Housing Development Board.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Candidates should either be a qualified person under the Legal Profession Act or a person called to the Singapore Bar
• Creativity, an ability to work independently and good judgement
• An ability to work under pressure
• At least 5 years of prosecution and/or legal experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathetic, and able to think from the layperson’s perspective.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Team player who takes initiative, is willing to learn, and curious about what is happening in our neighbourhoods.
