We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team for the
Education and Interpretation portfolio for the Founders’ Memorial. The ideal
candidate will be responsible for a diverse range of duties related to the design
and implementation of high-quality education programmes for primary and
secondary school students, as well as the coordination of various aspects of
student visits to the Memorial.
[What you will be working on]
Educational Programmes: Conceptualise, design and execute engaging and interactive tours and programmes tailored for primary, secondary school and tertiary students, ensuring alignment with school curriculum and educational objectives. This includes the Memorial’s flagship programmes such as the Scenario Room Programme and annual Youth Leadership programmes.
Educational Resources: Create in-gallery and in-classroom physical and digital resources that tie in closely with curriculum and student development.
Exhibition Design Experience: Work closely with Memorial’s Curatorial team to develop storytelling, visitor experience design and audience interpretation strategies of the Memorial’s exhibition galleries, focusing on students as a target audience.
Stakeholder Engagement and Curriculum Alignment: Engage closely with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and teachers to co-create learning journeys, programmes and resources, including designing and facilitating prototypes and pilot programmes.
Educational Partnership Development: Building partnerships with schools and other organisations to promote the Memorial.
School Visit Coordination: Manage the day-to-day operations of school group visits to the Founders’ Memorial, including logistical arrangements and coordination with supervising teachers on learning objectives and resources, etc.
Educator Empowerment and Development: Engage Founders’ Memorial guides and docents to facilitate educational programmes for students and oversee their training and professional development to ensure the effective delivery of programme content.
[What we are looking for]
Background in History, Humanities or a related field
Preferably at least 5 years of experience in developing and delivering educational programmes for primary / secondary school / tertiary students
Teaching experience at a secondary or tertiary level
In-depth understanding of the Singapore education system, social studies/history curriculum, and Ministry of Education guidelines
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated organisational and coordination abilities, particularly in managing student visits and engaging with educators and vendors
Effectively bilingual in English and one other official language. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in these languages will be advantageous
Passionate about education and possess a creative approach to designing impactful learning experiences, coupled with the ability to coordinate various aspects of student visits within a museum setting
