Purpose of Job:

You will be part of a team responsible for assessing applications for licence to operate food farm and/or animal feed production. You will also play a critical role in bridging the gap between industry capabilities and safeguarding food safety through the review and formulation of licensing policies, carrying out risk assessment and horizon scanning for farm-related food safety risks and designing improvements to the licensing process.

Duties:

Assess licence applications and make recommendation whether to grant a SFA licence to operate food farm and/or animal feed production.
Work with relevant agencies and engage them on issues related to licensing of food farms and animal feed production.
Develop new licensing policies to address emerging business models to ensure continued relevance to SFA’s vision and mission.
Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions such as analysing industry trends, emerging food safety trends , including best practices from other jurisdictions.
Identify and work on streamlining of licensing processes for improved efficiency.

Qualifications:

A tertiary degree in Food Technology/Food Science/ Agricultural Science/ Environmental Science or other Science-related discipline.

Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical and writing skills.

Good team player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders in the public and private sector.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Willing to work outside normal office hours occasionally.
