Purpose of Job:
You will be part of a team responsible for assessing applications for licence to operate food farm and/or animal feed production. You will also play a critical role in bridging the gap between industry capabilities and safeguarding food safety through the review and formulation of licensing policies, carrying out risk assessment and horizon scanning for farm-related food safety risks and designing improvements to the licensing process.

Duties:
- Assess licence applications and make recommendation whether to grant a SFA licence to operate food farm and/or animal feed production.
- Work with relevant agencies and engage them on issues related to licensing of food farms and animal feed production.
- Develop new licensing policies to address emerging business models to ensure continued relevance to SFA’s vision and mission.
- Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions such as analysing industry trends, emerging food safety trends , including best practices from other jurisdictions.
- Identify and work on streamlining of licensing processes for improved efficiency.
Qualifications:
- A tertiary degree in Food Technology/Food Science/ Agricultural Science/ Environmental Science or other Science-related discipline.

- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership, initiative and analytical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical and writing skills.
- Able to work independently, grasp timelines, operating context and ground realities.
- Good team player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders in the public and private sector.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willing to work outside normal office hours occasionally.
