What the role is

In the Sanitation and Industry Policy Department (SIPD) under the Public Health Operations Policy Division (PHOPD), you will be part of the team that works to strengthen operational capabilities in the new areas of environmental sanitation to meet current and future challenges. This includes developing solutions for current challenges, exploring and leveraging new technologies, and developing strategic programmes and engaging relevant stakeholders.

What you will be working on

You will work in a team to manage the implementation and administration of grant schemes relating to toilet management, and review of other sanitation policies. You will be responsible for the following:  

  • Engage third-party service provider and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations, including training of officers 
  • Prepare materials related to the grant (e.g., application forms, conditions of grant) 
  • Process applications, including conducting random audit checks on-site for verification purposes, according to established guidelines 
  • Assess the effectiveness of the grant schemes through data analysis and put up recommendation reports
  • Monitor grant utilisation and disbursements to flag up areas of concern timely 
  • Propose recommendations for simple and straightforward issues using results from data analysis to support decision-making 
  • Assess appeals, attend to queries and prepare recommendation reports / replies 
  • Conduct audit checks on third-party service providers 
  • Assist in any other duties assigned 

What we are looking for

You possess the following qualities:

  • 1-2 years of working experience in relevant fields such as grant management, grant governance, project development and management 
  • Enjoy thinking strategically, planning, and applying analytical reasoning 
  • Mature, proactive, meticulous and resourceful 
  • Able to work well independently and with a team  
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and enjoy working with both internal and external stakeholders 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint 

You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time. As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
