At MSE and our family of agencies – PUB, NEA, and SFA – we drive sustainability and resilience initiatives that improve the everyday lives of Singaporeans. As part of the MSE Family, you will be at the forefront of innovation, leading efforts to safeguard water resources, protect public health, and ensure food safety. Through partnerships across sectors, we tackle evolving challenges while fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive workplace.
Join us in shaping Singapore’s sustainable future and making a lasting impact on the everyday lives of generations to come.
The Water and Food Policy Division (WFPD) works closely with the Public Utilities Board (PUB) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) to formulate, review, and implement a broad range of policies and strategies to ensure the supply of water and safe food for Singapore.
Singapore imports more than 90% of our food from over 180 countries and regions. This makes us vulnerable to global food supply disruptions, arising from factors including disease outbreaks, geopolitical tensions and climate change. Our approach to food security entails a basket of strategies including diversifying our import sources, stockpiling essential food items, encouraging local production and growing overseas. As food security challenges heighten both globally and locally, it is key to regularly review our strategies to ensure our regime remains robust.
Apart from securing our food supply, we have to ensure that the food is safe to eat. Food safety covers a broad range of issues from farm-to-fork, from produce grown in farms to food that is served at your favourite hawker centre and coffeeshop. With new food innovations such as alternative proteins and an evolving food ecosystem increasingly dependent on new technologies, we have to look ahead of the curve to ensure that our policies, strategies and regulations are ready to deal with such complexities, including new emerging risks and industry developments.
You will lead a dynamic, fast-paced team, working closely with agencies such as SFA, to review, develop and implement policies and programmes that contribute to the strategic objectives of securing a supply of safe food for Singapore. You will also be involved in policies and joint programmes that intersect with other policy areas within the MSE family, thus contributing to wider sustainability and public health issues.
