What the role is
The Wildlife Trade branch in Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) Cluster implements and enforces the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) regulations, ensuring that wildlife trade in Singapore is safe and sustainable.
What you will be working on
We are looking for a driven and self-motivated individual to join the Wildlife Trade branch. You will champion the promotion of safe, sustainable wildlife trade and a healthy human-wildlife interface aligning with One Health, in both regional and international arenas. This multi-disciplinary role will involve close coordination with the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Key work areas include research and data collation of wildlife trade and health trends in relation to One Health threats, stakeholder coordination and network building, as well as events planning for workshops and training.
- Oversee research and data analysis on topics such as understanding the drivers and trends of value/supply chains for wildlife trade, disease risks and mitigation strategies involving wildlife trade and human-wildlife interactions in the region.
- Develop, refine and support the implementation of best practice guidelines on sustainable wildlife trade, while managing threats to wildlife health and transboundary disease risks.
- Build a regional network of experts in the field of wildlife trade, wildlife health and biodiversity, government authorities and advisors for establishing policies and guidelines to improve regional standards in One Health and sustainable wildlife trade.
- Plan and implement outreach and engagement, capacity building and training programmes for stakeholders.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with experts in the field of wildlife health and trade, both locally and internationally, to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration.
- Maintain written and web-based communications, including updates to stakeholders and the public on project outputs.
What we are looking for

- Possess excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Relevant experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Working with animal disease, wildlife trade or conservation data and ability to analyse, interpret, synthesise, and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Stakeholder engagement and communications, and ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
