What the role is

The Policy team within IMDA’s Data Innovation and Protection Group (DIPG) develops and implements data policies to bring economic and social benefits to Singapore. Our personal data protection regime safeguards individuals’ interests while enabling businesses to innovate and generate value from data. Through international partnerships, we facilitate cross-border data flows to help our businesses compete globally and strengthen Singapore’s position as a trusted global data hub.

Responsibilities

  • Update data protection policies and laws to maintain their effectiveness.
  • Provide practical guidance to help people and businesses navigate personal data protection requirements confidently.
  • Provide expert policy advice to IMDA teams and public agencies.
  • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships locally and internationally.
  • Monitor global and technology trends and recommend policy responses.
  • Support senior management on international trips and at meetings.
  • Assist with secretariat duties for a regional network of data protection authorities.
  • Eventually leading project teams and mentoring junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • 3 – 6 years of experience in policy development, regulatory work or legislation
  • Prior experience in project management and/or event coordination would be advantageous
  • Background in Economics, Political Science, Public Administration or Law
  • Occasional international travel required
