The Consumer Product Safety, Weights & Measures Office (CW) safeguards consumer safety and fair transactions through weights and measures in Singapore. As a Regulatory Officer in the CW, you will develop and implement programmes to ensure accuracy in trade measurements and protect consumer interests and safety.
[What will you be working on]
Administer Weights & Measures Regime, which requires you to:
- Oversee the verification and inspection of weighing and measuring instruments used for trade purposes.
- Assess and designate competent bodies for testing and verifying compliance of weighing & measuring instruments used for trade.
- Participate in local and international technical working group discussions to review and ensure relevance of weights and measures standards.
- Advise businesses on regulatory requirements for weights and measures and handle public enquiries professionally.
- Conduct regular policy, process, and legislation reviews related to weights and measures.
- Develop expertise in regulated weighing & measuring instruments and pre-packaged goods.
- Plan and execute public outreach programmes to increase awareness of fair measurement practices in trade.
- Investigate complaints related to inaccurate measurements in trade transactions.
Additionally, you may be required to support the Consumer Product Safety regime by:
- Assisting with consumer product safety regulations and compliance.
- Contributing to consumer product safety awareness programmes.
[What are we looking for]
- Qualifications in Engineering, Science, Metrology, or similar fields preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance or audit programmes
- Knowledge of weights and measures regulations and standards is advantageous.
- Experience in conceptualising and implementing outreach campaigns related to fair trade practices is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and writing skills.
- Resourceful, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
