What the role is

We are seeking a forward-thinking individual to join our team as an Enforcement Consultant/ Senior Enforcement Specialist of the Tobacco Regulation Branch (TRB). The ideal candidate will possess policy experience, strong IT skills and critical thinking abilities, and will play a key role in creating a system of modernised and robust regulatory and compliance strategies.

What you will be working on

  • Assist the Senior Assistant Director to develop strategies and policies related to regulatory compliance and enforcement, and prepare policy papers, reports and feasibility review submissions.
  • Champion process improvement to improve effectiveness and efficiency of units across branch.
  • Assist Senior Assistant Director in the operationalisation of new policies and law.
  • Assist Senior Assistant Director to monitor the manpower and budget adequacy for the branch. Identify manpower and budget gaps and propose solutions to bridge the gaps.
  • Supervise the team in the management of audit matters to ensure branch maintains high quality standards in their functions.
  • Conduct research and supervise ongoing monitoring of regulatory changes and their impact on the branch’s work.

What we are looking for

  • Possess knowledge/experience in a related field e.g. law, business, economics, public policy
  • Preferably with at least of 5 – 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in policy review and formulation in the context of regulatory compliance will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, interpersonal, organisational, writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • IT skills, with the ability to understand and apply technology in regulatory contexts to advance process efficiency will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with or experience with data analytics, statistical analysis and relevant programming
