You plan and execute public and digital communication efforts in support of MINDEF/Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)’s communication objectives, principally to preserve and strengthen public trust and confidence in national defence, National Service (NS) and the SAF.

What the role is
What you will be working on
- Formulate publicity plans mainstream and social media
- Work closely with the media on feature stories as well as draft replies to forum letters and media queries
- Develop the plans for local and international media engagement
- Deal with the public communication of consequence management that involves incidents and unplanned events with a view towards maintaining public confidence in MINDEF/SAF
Challenge(s)
- Working with multiple stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of policy and operational issues, and then developing effective communication strategies that meet organisational objectives in a timely manner
What we are looking for
- Education in Communication Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, Digital Media or Information Science is preferred
- Strong English proficiency
- Additional language skills (Mandarin/Malay/Tamil) is useful
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Keen interest in Singapore’s media, political, defence and security developments, have a good understanding of Singapore’s media landscape, and be comfortable working with policy makers and staff departments
- Meticulous and detail-oriented
- Adaptability to work odd hours on very short notice
