What the role is
What you will be working on
Co-led by Sport Singapore, Singapore Sports School (SSP) and National Youth Sports Institute (NYSI), you will be part of a journey to support the vision for the next bound to build new capabilities for high performance sport and better integrate our programmes/policies to strengthen support for youth to senior athletes, and youth-to-senior transition.
Athlete Life is an interdisciplinary area of focus that serves as a specialised function supporting the holistic development of our athletes, enabling them to excel both in their sporting endeavours (sport performance) and personal aspirations (life performance). Athlete Life ensures that athletes can achieve peak performance while safeguarding their health and well-being, both during their athletic careers and in life beyond sport, helping them reach their full potential.
This role is integral to supporting our Team Singapore athletes in managing their personal and sporting lives, ensuring a balance between their athletic commitments and broader life goals. The successful candidate will work closely with athletes to facilitate the management of their high performance life planning by implementing the Athlete Life framework and strategies to achieve personal and sporting success.
• Life planning for Athletes: Provide individualized support to national athletes in developing comprehensive life plans that address their athletic career, personal aspirations, educational goals, and post-career plans using the Athlete Life Framework as guidance.
• Resource coordination and management: Assess the needs of athletes and work with relevant stakeholders within an athlete’s holistic ecological environment to match their needs with the appropriate resources and specialists, to ensure comprehensive support across various areas of their lives to achieve sporting excellence.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including high performance management, coaching, sports science support, career and education staff, to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded approach to athlete development and well-being.
• Ongoing monitoring and support: Conduct regular check-ins with athletes to track their progress and provide continuous guidance, adjusting life plans and strategies as necessary to ensure long-term success.
• Stakeholder relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including service providers, partners, athletes, senior management to ensure optimal resources and support are provided.
• Data management, monitoring and reporting: Ensure the consistent management and safeguarding of athlete data by maintaining a comprehensive knowledge management system. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of life management programmes, tracking athlete progress and outcomes and providing reports to senior leadership where necessary.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who value integrity, teamwork and take pride in going the extra mile to provide excellent service to stakeholders and the community. This individual should be a sport advocate through living an active lifestyle and staying active.
This position requires an individual with strong interpersonal skills, a comprehensive understanding of an athlete’s life journey, and a commitment to fostering athletes' well-being both on and off the field.
• At least 3 years of working experience in elite athlete support systems, sports management, wider sports industry or a related role.
• In-depth understanding of the challenges and needs of elite athletes, both within and outside of their sporting careers and a passion for athlete development and their overall wellbeing.
• Experience in implementing engagement programmes, new systems and processes.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Prior experience as an elite athlete, coach, teacher or in sports management/administration is advantageous.
• Proactive, adaptable and solution-oriented with good systems thinking skills
• A good team-player, highly motivated and performance-driven
