What the role is
What you will be working on
The Public Service is transforming to stay future-ready — and that includes how we communicate, engage, and connect with both the people we serve and the people who serve.
At the Public Service Division (PSD), we believe that strong internal engagement and a compelling employer brand are key to building a public service that is trusted, motivated, and united in purpose. But in a diverse and evolving workforce, this is no small task. How do we reach different segments meaningfully? What stories should we tell to inspire, inform or rally action?
That’s where you come in. As an intern with our Communications Cluster, you’ll gain hands-on experience in shaping narratives, building campaigns, and bringing to life the people and purpose behind public service.
What You’ll Do
Depending on your interests and strengths, you may:
• Write and create content for EDMs, social media, websites, and officer profiles
• Support photo and video production, including filming, editing, and event coverage
• Design visual materials such as social posts, posters and campaign assets
• Contribute to social media efforts, including planning, scheduling, and tracking performance
• Assist in planning and running engagement activities, such as events, campaigns, or sentiments gathering (e.g. focus group discussions)
• Support communications operations, including editorial calendars, brief development, and approvals
• Conduct light research or data analysis, such as audience insights, social media metrics, or survey responses
What we are looking for
Who We’re Looking For
• University undergraduates curious about communications, content, and engagement
• Strong writers and creative thinkers with an eye for visuals or stories
• Detail-oriented and proactive, with an interest in the Public Service and how it works
• Familiarity with some of these tools will be a bonus:
o Canva / Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
o Video/photo editing tools (e.g. CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Lightroom)
o Social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn)
