What you will be working on

The incumbent should aspire to bring into effect paradigm shift in how Singaporeans perceive and respond to participation in basketball, with the aim of facilitating and sustaining active participation in the sport (focusing on youth development), which would further translate into successful transition of participants to coaches, officials, volunteers, spectators and fans of the sport. He/She would need to work in tandem with the Team Lead and Principal/Technical Director to plan, design, coordinate and implement programmes and activities, especially for junior and youth participants, with the aim of nurturing them to become leaders and team players on and off the court. Roles & Responsibilities : • To coordinate with team members from ActiveSG (i.e. sports centres and booking office) and coaches and lead the operations of programmes at identified centres and competitions and events island wide. • To work with Principal/Technical Director to monitor the players’ database, progression and activity levels and recommend initiatives and methods for retention and development, including the staffing of overseas competitions and exchange trips. • To work with Principal/Technical Director to construct developmental pathways for players to progress from skills-based and behavioural standpoints. • To create the range of contents and maintain the channels for regular and interactive communication between the Academy and parents. • To monitor the parents’ database and identify potential advocates for set up and development of parent support groups within the Academy. • To design and implement activities that will enable active participation in the Academy by the parents. • To engage and deepen parents’ understanding of their child’s development during his/her time in the Academy. • To oversee and monitor the coaches’ database of the Academy. • To assist in the overall process and documentation of hiring, assessment and development of coaches. • To support the Academy’s Technical Director to establish a coach development and education pathway from a volunteer to head coach, including working with CoachSG and NSA to draw up a coach certification and education calendar. • To source for potential schools and outreach platforms. • To coordinate with team members, coaches and volunteers and lead the operations of these outreach events and initiatives. • To liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g. CoachSG, Sports Safety, Sports Fundamentals) to design and develop the curriculum for players and coaches • To form partnerships with credible organisations whose purposes and objectives align well with the Academy to expand its reach, capability and impact

What we are looking for

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who value integrity, teamwork and take pride in going the extra mile to provide excellent service to stakeholders and the community. This individual should be a sport advocate through living an active lifestyle and staying active. In addition, an ideal candidate should possess the following: • At least 5 years of proven experience and/ track record in relevant areas, e.g. sport science/management, academy management related work • Good understanding of Singapore sporting ecosystem • Able to manage and lead people of diverse backgrounds and different positions • Self-motivated and able to work independently • Good organisational, management and administrative skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficient computer skills (standard software applications such as MS Office, email communications and internet research). The level of offer will commensurate with applicants’ experience and track records. Successful candidates will be offered a 2/3-year contract in the first instance.
