What the role is
Your role is to manage and execute radiological plume dispersion modelling tasks and contribute to the development and enhancement of plume dispersion modelling tools. You will be at the forefront of ensuring Singapore’s preparedness and response capabilities to radiological incidents are robust and effective.
What you will be working on
As part of the team, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Model Design and Simulation:
Collaborate with a team to design realistic scenarios for radiological dispersion.
Simulate these scenarios using advanced dispersion models to predict the spread of radiological materials in air and water environments.
2. Operational Support:
Provide operational support for dispersion modelling systems, ensuring their reliability for both air and water environments in Singapore and the region.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Project Management:
Engage with relevant stakeholders to manage projects focused on the development of modelling systems tailored to Singapore's unique requirements.
Understand and evaluate the algorithms behind various models and assess their applicability based on the experience of other countries.
4. Research and Collaboration:
Partner with local and international institutes to conduct research and development activities aimed at enhancing Singapore's modelling capabilities.
5. Maintenance and Operations Support:
Support the maintenance and operations of an ambient radiation monitoring network.
Troubleshoot network and equipment issues and develop a predictive maintenance regime to improve operational efficiency.
6. Vendor and Contractor Management:
Assist in the management of vendors and contractors involved in the development of radiological dispersion modelling systems and the maintenance of the sensor network.
Ensure that system integration and operability are aligned with Singapore's operational needs.
7. Interdisciplinary and Regional Project Participation:
Take part in interdisciplinary projects and contribute to regional initiatives as required, to enhance Singapore's radiological response capabilities.
What we are looking for
Degree in any Engineering discipline
At least 2 years of experience in plume dispersion modelling and impact assessment in the air and/or water environment would be an advantage
Have a keen interest in operational planning and applying analytical reasoning to dispersion modelling and environmental monitoring
Possess effective scientific communication and good interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex information and collaborate with various stakeholders
Have a passion for Innovative and enjoy working across diverse teams
Able to work effectively under tight deadlines, adaptive to changes and possess a positive work attitude
Highly motivated, meticulous, and takes initiative in your work
