What the role is

The Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside with forensic scientists and gain practical experience in the field of narcotics drug testing.

What you will be working on

The Interns will: • Acquire knowledge on different drugs of abuse as well as drug trends in Singapore • Undergo a comprehensive training programme on the use of different equipment and instrument (e.g. balances, pH meter, FTIR, GC-MS, LC) and gain hands-on experience operating them • Learn and participate in quality assurance programmes undertaken by the laboratory • Participate in work improvement and R&D projects in various fields such as chemometrics, computational chemistry as well as development/validation of new methodologies for drug testing [Learning Outcomes] • Have an overview of the functions and operations of a forensic laboratory • Gain knowledge on different techniques/methods used in drug testing • Gain proficiency in operating equipment and instrument independently • Acquire knowledge and skills to support the operation of an analytical laboratory

What we are looking for

• Undergraduates with a background in analytical and organic chemistry • Instrumental analysis and knowledge in programming will be an advantage • Able to commit full-time for a minimum of 18 weeks between Jun - Dec 2025
