What the role is

Senior/Engineer (Digital Fabrication & Additive Manufacturing Centre) / School of Engineering (2-year contract)

What you will be working on

Utilise advanced CAD tools, including Creo, SolidWorks, and Siemens NX, to conceptualise, design, and optimise components and systems that meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
Lead and manage design projects across a variety of manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
Provide expert guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
Develop innovative design strategies to solve complex engineering challenges, with a focus on functionality and manufacturability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists and engineers across varying centres and procurement, to ensure efficient product development and delivery.
Provide expert guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in design methodologies, materials, and manufacturing technologies to enhance project outcomes.
Mentor students on research projects, providing guidance and support to help them achieve academic and professional goals.

What we are looking for

A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in engineering design or product development.
Experience in additive manufacturing (AM) technologies is a plus.
Strong knowledge and experience in design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles and practices
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of process optimisation.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports and deliver presentations
